For the past 20 + years, the Town of Port Barre has participated in the Toys for Tots Program. We originally started this on our own, collecting toys to give to needy children, whose parents and/or care givers did not have sufficient means to bring Christmas joy to their children. After many years of doing this on our own, we joined forces with the Marine Corp, who is the major sponsor and collector of the toys. In a joint effort, the Town has been able to fill at least 100 applications submitted by local residents for toys over the years.

Unfortunately, we have just been informed by the local district coordinator for the Marines, that we may not be getting enough toys to fill all of the applications.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! We have collected a few toys locally, but need much more. Monetary and/or toy donations would be greatly appreciated. If you choose to purchase toys, our office has the ages of the boys and girls in need. Monetary donations are accepted as well, as we have a group of people who will go shopping for the specific age appropriate toys for the children.

Your donation is tax deductible. The Town of Port Barre’s tax ID number is 72-6001114. Checks should be made to the “Town of Port Barre,” P.O. Box 219, Port Barre, LA 70577. If you do not wish to mail your donation, the toys and/or checks can be dropped off at the Port Barre Town Hall, 504 Saizan Avenue, Port Barre. We also accept debit and credit cards.
