Boil Advisory

1/18/2018

Good afternoon everyone. I wish I was making this post to give good news. Unfortunately, the water pressure in our tower has dropped drastically over the last couple of hours. Both the Town and Water District crews are trying to determine the reason, and are riding the areas looking for a possible break in one of the main lines due to the freezing temperatures. In addition to that, hundreds of customers have broken lines, some of which don't know about it, and this is also draining the system. Because of the drastic drop in pressure, this is to advise that the Town of Port Barre is going back into a boil advisory, and Waterworks District #3 remains in the original boil advisory posted. Both systems may not be able to keep up, and all of us may be without water. The Town's pressure is very, very low, and the District has some areas that have no water at all. Also, this drop in pressure has stirred up the inside of the lines, making the water brown and rusty. We are just as frustrated as all of you and wish we had better news. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
